Information
I offer a free 20-30 minute online consultation session before your first appointment to discuss your therapy aims and answer any questions you may have.
First session
You will be invited to share what is concerning you. We will discuss your personal history and background as well as what you hope for from our time together. You may have further questions and I can offer more information about the structure of our sessions and how the space will be held.
Frequently asked questions
Who can benefit from therapy?
Therapy and counselling can benefit people from all walks of life. The therapeutic process can work to heal many difficulties including anxiety, stress, depression, addiction, anger, sexuality, identity, trauma, loss of a sense of meaning, bereavement and relationship issues. There may be one issue you want to address or there may be multiple concerns; we can discuss this during our initial consultation.
How long are sessions?
Sessions are 50 minutes.
Are sessions confidential?
All sessions are confidential and I comply with the BACP ethical framework
How often are sessions?
Sessions are usually at the same time each week. The number of sessions a client has depends on individual need. Regularity and consistency of attendance is integral to the work. Your weekly session is reserved for you, and a minimum of two weeks is required for cancellations. I realise that some people work on shift-patterns. With advance notice I will do my best to accommodate requests for a temporary change to an appointment.
Where do you work?
I work in-person and I also offer online appointments.
My in-person practice has several locations spread across Brighton and Hove which are close to main line train and bus services for clients from the wider Sussex area. See the map on the contact page for more detailed information.
I use Zoom to host my online work which enables me to take appointments from across the globe.
What about fees?
I operate a sliding scale for fees which are detailed on the fees page, I'm happy to discuss this in our initial chat or during our first session. Bank transfer or cash is accepted.
What days are you available to work?
I work from Monday to Friday, up to 8pm. Feel free to contact me and find out whether there's a time that could work for you.
Embracing Difference
Sociocultural aspects play a role in all our lives and how we're feeling. I hold a commitment to be inclusive towards diversity; embracing and celebrating difference in our communities. I offer a space where cultural differences such as race, gender, sexuality, class, disabilities, ageism and neurodiversity are welcome and can be discussed openly, honestly and candidly.
